Residency Closure and Reduction

Intent:
The sponsoring institution will inform residents as soon as possible if it intends to reduce the size of a residency program or to close a residency program.
Policy Statement:
Each residency program is responsible for notifying each resident in the program in the event of a reduction or closure in the program.
Description:
- Programs should make every effort to allow residents already in the program to complete their education.
- Each program should make every effort to assist residents, displaced by closure of the program or by reduction in the number of residents, in identifying a program in which they can continue their education.
