Correspondence between programs and ACGME

Intent:
All correspondence between programs and ACGME must be reviewed and signed by the Associate Dean for GME (DIO)
Policy Statement:
The Associate Dean for GME (DIO) or a designee must review and sign all Program Information Forms (PIF) and any correspondence or documents submitted to the ACGME or RRC (ACGME Institutional Requirements IV B 10).
Description:
- All correspondence or documents submitted to the ACGME or RRC that address those items listed in the ACGME Institutional Requirements (IV B 10) shall be approved prior to submission by the Associate Dean for GME (DIO). These include the following:
- All applications for ACGME accreditation of new programs and subspecialties
- Changes in resident complement
- Major changes in program structure or length of training
- Additions and deletions of participating institutions used in a program
- Appointments of new program directors
- Progress reports requested by any Review Committee
- Responses to all proposed adverse actions
- Request for increases or any changes in resident duty hours
- Requests for "inactive status" or to reactivate a program
- Voluntary withdrawal of ACGME accredited programs
- Request for appeal of an adverse action; and,
- Appeal presentations to the Board of Appeal or the ACGME
- All verbal communication with the RRC secretary should be discussed with the Associate Dean for GME prior to contact being made.
- All Program Information Forms must be delivered to the Associate Dean for GME at least two weeks before the form is due to the site visitor. It is expected that all PIF are thoroughly reviewed within the department prior to being sent to the Associate Dean.
